Anime Conji Report - Epic Sean

I’ll start off by saying this: Anime Conji 2013 was different from Anime Conji 2012. They both have their ups and downs, but 2012 had a better exhibit hall and more panels, and this year’s had a better video game/tabletop room. Enough about the goods and bads though, let’s get to what I actually did.

Friday was my least favorite day. We couldn’t find anything for about an hour, except for a voice-acting panel I almost fell asleep at. We got to skip half of school however, so that was pretty cool. We basically spent the rest of the afternoon in the exhibit hall, and Ian and I both bought Gundams. Our step mom, Sarah, came with us, and it was actually pretty cool for her to cover more than Comic-Con.

Saturday was better, but Sarah didn’t come with us. We got to explore the exhibit hall more on Saturday, and they had a lot of neat stuff. Gundams, posters, bags, stuffies scarves, cos-play, wallets, all that cool useless stuff that nobody needs but everybody wants. We went to a cos-play panel on advanced materials. Then we found the videogames. I played games for hours. Street-fighter, Marvel vs. Capcom, Halo 4, and other games like that. My dad and Ian played a game called Kanzume Goddess for a while, and then came to watch me. After that, we went back to the Exhibit hall, bought messenger bags, and left for the night. I got a Full Metal Alchemist messenger bag.

The next day was the best. One of our friends, Ari, came with us. We all cos-played and I dressed up as Finn from Adventure Time, Ian went as Luigi from Mario, and Ari went as Misty from Pokemon. We went to the exhibit hall first, and Ari almost immediately bought a Dragon Ball Z messenger bag and a foam Master sword from Legend of Zelda. We played video-games for even longer than the day before, and ended the day with another cos-play panel.

It was over all epic, and I believe we have made a convention monster out of Arianna… and she is only the first of many… Mwaaaaa ha ha ha haaaa.

Kingdom Con report by Epic Sean

Kingdom con made me feel like a king. It could easily be my favorite convention, even above comic con.

The con was divided into four sections, as follows in order of favorite to least favorite; The Tabletop room, the Board/Card game room, the RPG room, and the Wargaming room.

I loved the Tabletop room because of the Malifaux. Malifaux was the thing that I spent hours playing. I got to participate in an achievement league, and an actual tournament. I did well in the achievement league, but failed miserably at the tournament. I won the Morgue Base for getting 5th place.

I liked the Board/Card game room, because of the variety. One wall was completely lined with games. Over 100 games sat on a table waiting to be checked-out. The rest of the walls were lined with vendors from Villainous Lair, At Ease Games, and Gamecrafter. The rest of the room was filled with tables, with tons of people at them. I spent most of the first day in there doing a Warhammer kit-bash.

I spent about a total of three hours in the RPG room. All I played was an Interface Zero 2.0 playtest that my dad, Ron, was running for us. He wrote the entire equipment section in the book, just in case you didn’t know.

Last was the Wargaming room. (No offense to any wargamers out there) The only reason why I was in there was to do a raffle. Of course I didn’t win anything, but the total value of the prizes was $800.

I forgot to mention one last room, but I’ve saved the best for last. The Treasure Room. So much loot and swag filled the room, and you could barely walk around in it.  wargames, rpg games, card games, board games, and much more. I got tons of stuff; Iron Kingdoms 3.5, Heap, Infernal Contraptions, terrain for Malifaux, and lots of little insignificant swag. Overall, the convention was TOTALLY. FREAKING. EPIIIIC!!!!

PS. If you go to the con after about 11:00pm, you will be surrounded by drunkards. If you are over 21, you can join them. If not, LEAVE. Trust me, it isn’t worth it to stay after that.

Epic Sean - Halo 4 micro review

Halo 4 is the best first person shooter video game I have ever played. The graphics are so great and realistic.  The campaign plot is awesome, but the forge creation mode could use a little work.

I am very disappointed that Halo Reach's forge is better. I really miss the ability to have a huge map to create in, to have a Falcon helicopter or Covenant Revenent to drive in, and a multitude of other things to deal with. The campaign however, is so great with it's new aliens, the Prometheans, instead of just the normal covenant threat. Also, the campaign is better by the ability to play Master Chief.

                                                                 -Spoiler alert-

Master Chief gets to jump straight onto a fleeing Phantom, flies a Pelican, and gets upgraded, turning half Promethean ( or at least that is my theory) Any ways: Play it! It is so Epic! Play It!

Gaming Club (Epic Ian & Epic Sean's 1st Post)

Last year, at our middle school, we decided to create a gaming club. Our dad, Epic prime, suggested we start one, because we were already playing some games with the nerdiest teacher at the school, Mr. Schmid.

We started brainstorming more in depth this year. We first went to one of the principals, and she eventually approved. Now we have club meetings every Tuesday.

On the first meeting of the year, we were really surprised at the turn out of people, and we knew the club was going to go uphill from there. The first games we played were zombie dice and munchkin. Some other people were playing the Dungeons and dragons board game. We mostly play those, but had zombie dice donated by The Fanatical Gamers Society. [Epic Prime edit: This was donated the week before when FGS’s James came to the store and donated a Zombie Dice to the club.]

Last week’s meeting, FGS (Shaun, Gail and Paul). They brought Sword and Skulls, Warmachine (which Epic Sean played), and a Greek game called Pente, which was donated to the Gaming Club. Warmachine is a game of huge steam powered machines of great power, armed with hammers and axes, and warcasters with spells that could devastate cities.

For the next meetings we’re probably not going to have any special guests. Two other games we are going to be playing: Super Dungeon Explore, and Frag. Super Dungeon Explore is an awesome fantasy 8-bit boardgame, with valiant Chibi heroes and not as cute snickering kobolds. Frag is another video game turned board game and is all about killing… and winning.

So far, Gaming club is…EPIC! And hopefully it will stay that way.
